Just wondering if any of you are into it? I'm a rookie, but want to start playing around with it. Not sure if I have the proper lense though, as I only have a 18-55 kit lense right now, but I have been reading that a wider angle lense is better, that can get your f stop down to 2.8..... but they say a kit lense will work. I'm going to give it a try this weekend.

Other things I've read for suggestions.... manual focus, set to infinity. Use the timer or shutter release cable. Set f-stop to 2.8 or as close as possible. ISO 1600-3200. 30" exposure.

Any other suggestions, or maybe you disagree with settings i have found?

Any pic examples from you guys? Would love to see some. I guess I'm hoping to capture the very last part of a sunset, with the stars already appearing.

Hey, I know it's been a few months since you posted this, but how did it go?

I've done some astrophotography myself a bit, although am not anything more than a rookie myself. I was curious how it went for you.

Your settings look pretty good. A couple pieces of advice I could give you are to get as far away from light pollution as possible. I'm on the east coast, so this is pretty hard to do where I live. I'm not sure where in Wisconsin you live, but it looks like you have some nice dark areas in your state. There are several websites with light pollution maps so you can see where dark/light areas are. If the area is dark enough I would suggest shooting on bulb, so you can shoot for longer than 30 secs. Also, as you probably already know, RAW is the way to go.
