Cool pics Jeremi, I didn't realize that Grouse feed at night. Can you tell me your lighting set up with those pics, just curious?

Thanks Gary. Actually they aren't feeding. They are gathering on their dancing grounds known as a lek. This is where the males do their breeding display dance to impress the ladies. They go to the same spot every year.

I used 2 sb-28 flashes here. The one pic I had them set to 1/4 power but found the pics to be over exposed and harsh light once the sun got up.

The other two pics I adjusted the camera settings and knocked the flash power back to 1/8 and 1/16 I think

The T3i sure is a workhorse camera. Nice images! Finding the best flash setting to balance both night and day shots seems to be a fine line. Maybe there is no perfect combination of flash settings that captures both perfectly?
