How big of a DSLR have you fit into one of these? I original built with a 1300 since I already had it but am starting another build and would love to downsize cases.

I have a pelican 1150 that fits a d3200 with 18-55mm lens but it has a lens snorkel that is about 3-4 inches long. After building that I decided to go back to the 1300 without a snorkel. Just about as easy to fit in a backpack and more room in the case for accessories. I almost had a build done fitting a d7100 with battery grip in a 1150 but there wasn't much room for anything else and I had to hack in to the battery grip shutter button because there wasn't enough room to plug in the shutter cable.

Also, with the d7100 in the 1150 I had to cut and patch a hole in the case to fit the flash transmitter, so make sure what ever transmitter you're using doesn't extend past the front of the camera body or at least figure that into your build.

Sounds like the 1150 is the smallest option. Has anyone used anything smaller? I'm using natural light so I dont have a flash trigger to worry about. Thanks for the info!

As I recall, the D3200 fits in 1130 with snorkel and no hot shoe flash trigger. Pretty tight though. It also fits in the Walmart case.

Nice thing about the 1150 is that it gives you a little breathing room around the top and sides. The benefits of that often become clear a few months down the road. You can fit darn near anything in a 1300, which can be a real plus if you switch bodies, lenses, or accessory configurations.

D series canon bodies with battery grips do not fit in the 1150.

I've used the 1150 for many of my builds...the small Canons and Nikons (400D-600Ds and D90s, D7000 and D3000s) all fit...I prefer the smaller footprint...I've even gone down to a 1120 for a Sony A200-A500 cameras...I'm about to build two pro-body cameras (Nikon D2h and D3s) but will need to go to the 1200 for these...!!
