Hey guys,

I was in a camera trapping rut for the last year or so cause I've been too busy with family and work, plus I moved to the Willamette valley in OR and wasn't initially inspired by the local camera trapping options.
Got back on my feet by messing around trying to camera trap suburban wildlife in my backyard and now I've got a couple fun sets in the works.

Got my nice camera traps out in S. Oregon, trapping on S. facing oak hill sides instead of the conifer forest I've set on in the past. I've been shocked by how much bobcat and cougar sign there is, excited to see what I get. So far I set for long exposure night shots on a log crossing and missed like 5 daytime shots (triggered an AIR so I'm pretty sure it's not a false and something took out my key light) and a couple super moon night shots where the critter is invisible but you can barely tell something is there. Fresh lion tracks not too far away. Bummer! I set a separate low probability shot with a nice view, lovely scene with oak and a town in the background. Got a visit from a GH owl but no kitties. There is a dynamite game trail nearby that gets funneled under a cliff; if this doesn't work I'll move there, not a great scene but trail cam showing lion visits ~ once per 10d.

Here's the owl shot. Using wired synch for flashes and think I had too much stress on one of the connections, one stopped working and didn't fire in this shot. 30s f/11 ISO 3200 -- too much ambient for this night, which I think was during the supermoon. Always a gamble setting long exposures. House I grew up in somewhere in the background:)

Hope everyone is doing well; looks like folks have been getting some great shots while I was gone

cheers
Jonny

Welcome back...I haven't bee around a bunch either. Thats one cool scene there and I'm sure it will pay off for you. I still need to experiment with the long exposure shots. I built(ing) a rig that I hope to dedicate to just that. Canon 50D with tokina 11-28. Just didn't get it done in time to get it out this fall. Gives me the winter to experiment in the back yard. My hope is to get a milkyway shot on a grouse lek this spring...we'll see...

Cheers

Pred

Welcome back. That's a mighty fine shot. And I'm sure you have more to come. I can't wait to see the results of your Fallen log set when things really start to gel. Merry Christmas.
