I have a PIR set over the creek gunning for mammals, but have had a couple of interesting bird captures, like this GHO taking a bird bath.

Those are really nice, especially the great horned owl.

Cool catch -- see what happens in the summer. The bats out here mob the GHOs when they try to bathe in the creek. I'm curious to know if it's a general thing.

I wonder if that owl was snatching something or just being in the water. Great shots!

Blessings..........Pastorjim

Wow!!!! I've been hearing stories about barred owls that have colonized the PNW being serious predators in streams. Wonder what that owl (GH?) is going for?

Are you using autofocus? Was curious cause the log wasn't the focus point and figured that was where you were gonna trigger the mammal.

Can't wait to see what else you get!

Bird Note (by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology on NPR) had a nice piece on our "fishing owls" a few weeks ago. Apparently the Western Screech Owl takes the prize and even out-fished the kingfisher in the study, which I find hard to believe.
