An overabundance of rabbits in this field is a regular stop for bobcats. I hate using PIR sensors, but the Camtraptions v3 seems to be working well enough to incorporate into my regular inventory.

Canon 40d
Camtraptions V3 sensor
Camtraptions triggers
(2) Nikon SB-25 strobes

Good catch -- we seem to be on a run of bobcats.

Once you figure out their routine, they are pretty easy to capture. Curiosity attracts them to the flashing strobes and clicking shutter, and reflections in the lens.

Awesome pose and great bobcat photo! :awesome
Curious, why do you hate using PIR sensors? And, can you explain the positive aspects you've experienced from the Camtraptions V3 sensor?
The reason I ask: I've only ever used PIR sensors and never field tested the alternatives and I've been hearing good things about the Camtraptions V3.

I don't like passive IR sensors because of the numerous false positives and the inaccuracy of the sensor. All of my sets, except this Camtraptions v3, use Active IR or LIDAR sensors. I haven't spent a whole lot of time with the Camtraptions v3, but I like the barn doors and some of the configurable options that have made this sensor a very acceptable replacement.
