Following up on the link about fighting lynxes, here's something else to enjoy. (How would you like to wake up to this serenade at 2:30 in the morning in your sleeping bag in the woods.)

Interesting display. They looked like a couple of rams squaring off, and then came the the head butt. Surprised they tolerated people at that close range, but that may be their first encounter with humans and northern species seem to be much less afraid of people than temperate and tropical species.

Yes indeed, the head butting is really weird. Also, sometimes fighting animals seem oblivious to their surroundings.

Does anybody know if Bobcats will make the same sounds? I swear I've heard something similar out in the woods at night, coon hunting, but this was a long time ago, but I've never known to have Lynx in our area, just bobcats.

Definitely wouldn't want that out camping alone in the woods. I'm betting bobcats make the same or similar sounds. The species are pretty close and even interbreed.

Agreed, most medium-sized cats can make a racket like that. House cats on the roof at night can scare the bejeepers out of kids.
