Far too often I've seen members, myself included, post very time consuming and detailed tutorials here on this forum. Then in turn, garner very little interests in the way of questions or comments for their hard efforts. So rather than go through all the trouble of doing another tutorial and have it go flat. I thought that I would try this route instead.

If there is enough interest in supporting me doing this. Then I will put together a very detailed tutorial showing how to make your own casts of animal tracks. Such as the materials needed, the methods of taking them, how to select the best tracks and how to prep them for casting. How remove them, recast them, make molds to do more casts and then make either a negative of positive of that. There will be plenty of pictures of every step of the project too. Taking casts in the sand, snow, mud and even in puddles under water is possible.

Making your own casts of tracks is fun, exciting and very educational. It's also a great way of getting youngsters to participate in an outdoor project as well. Great fun for your children, grandchildren, school kids, scout/cubs/girlguids, hunters, outdoorsy folks...you name it. You can even take casts of your own pet's paws and make a wall hanger or get it framed. With a small shallow wooden sandbox, you can even do castings inside the classroom.

So what do you say, is this a good idea or not?

You can count me in. Wish I would have learned the proper way to cast a few years ago. Saw some tracks after a heavy rain and tried to cast them, but did not have the correct materials on hand.
