In case you didn't see it, this bizarre incident was on the tube tonight. (Some of Johanna Turner's puma photos are also shown).

I saw this on the news yesterday Chris, amazing footage to say the least.

Yes, indeed. Imagine the scene if you had been floating in the pool with a drink in hand when deer and puma jumped in.

Here's the recent dogfight story that turned out to be a dog-puma fight story.

Sadly, the best part of this story was the advice being given here, and I quote: People who live near wintering deer should understand there is likely to be mountain lions nearby, too, and they should be aware of their surroundings, and not leave their pets outside and unattended, especially in early mornings, late evenings and at night when mountain lions are most active. End quote.

I was wondering how they got the deer out of the pool, had to most likely get it to the steps going out of the pool. Shows how much chance I would have getting away from a cougar attack. I'll bet it will be awhile before anyone in that house goes for a dip in the dark...

We (the old guys) might be able to defend against a young puma, and maybe against an adult if you had a friend with you. An old trapper told me that it was easy to kill cats in a leg-hold trap using a choke stick; he said they die easily, but that it didn't work very easily on coyotes or foxes. I always carry pepper spray with me but hope I never have to use it. My dog probably scares the bejeepers out of most everything else in there woods (he has an oversized barK).
