This was my office the last few days.

Sometimes it rains.

Where the buffalo roam.

Sometimes I stop and smell the roses.

Sometimes I see bugs do strange things.

I love my job.

Talk about wide open spaces. Beautiful. Nothing like that here in CT. What is the setup for over the waterfall? I passed thru your state but never got the time to really look it over. That brook has to be and super gathering spot for everything out there.

Yeah, I've been to CT. I like it there too but it is definitely different from here. The camera in this picture is for this project: http://www.plattebasintimelapse.com It looks at a falls on the North Loup River in north central Nebraska. It takes a picture every hour at the top of the hour. It starts taking pictures one hour before sunrise and stops one hour after sunset. In the first and last hour it takes four times more pictures to better capture the sunrise and sunset. Plus it has a satellite transceiver in the box to send a short text to indicate the camera took a picture.

The sandhills region of the great plains is truly beautiful. The region is about 23,000 square miles and over 85% of the region has never seen a plow and remains native tall grass. Under the sandhills is the Ogallala aquifer, the largest fresh water aquifer in the world. The water is just a few feet below the surface. Hard to believe somebody wants to cut a trench from north to south and run oil down it.

I had to cajole the family several years before they agreed to take a vacation in Nebraska, and of course they loved the sandhills, the fossil quarry, and the Niobrara. I love the prairie country.

It's an acquired taste. I grew up here and have grown to really like the wide open spaces. I have moved away a few times but always end up back here.

That is a very exciting wide open landscape. It needs some grizzly bears and wolves but....

Just did some quick googling of the sites you guys mentioned. Eve without grizzly it looks like an incredible place to explore. And those skyscapes have so much photographic potential.
