Finally after 13 years of trying and politics getting involved creating on and off bear hunting seasons I got my first black bear last year during our six day firearms season, it was an 85 pound yearling, not the largest bear but a trophy to me. This year I went out with the crossbow and on Friday evening a little after 6pm this bear walked in from the right and stopped at 5 yards. After the shot I heard it run behind me in a small loop and then all was quiet. The blood trail was a good one but it went in the thick stuff and after searching in the dark (a little nervously) I decided it was best to come back in the morning. Didn't take long the next day to find it and with the cooler temps the meat was still good. This one was 177.5 pounds dressed and it took quite the effort to get it out of the woods. We, mostly my son, were very glad when we finally got out of the thick stuff and to the main trail where we could get it on the cart. The bear ended up only 25 yards from where I was sitting at the shot and I probably crawled by it twice within 10 yards of it when I was looking for it the first night.

Great liking bear nice and black I am not partial to those coloured ones. Clearly you are not getting him mounted as by the way you are dragging it!
