I modified a Fuji J10 to see infrared light by removing the glass. Worked great! Clear focus too!

***Discharge the flash capacitor*** ***Modify at your own risk***

Take the back off of the camera and gently fold over the lcd to access a silver bracket.

Take out a few screws to remove the bracket. Be careful when 'unsnapping' it from the lens assembly.

Peel the black tape off to expose the screws holding in the CCD to the back of the lens assembly.

Take the screws out and gently peel back the CCD. Remove the glass and rubber boot. Replace & reassemble. Be sure to snug down the screws to maintain perfect focus.

You are now finished! You can now enjoy a fast little 8 MP camera that 'sees' infrared light and takes SDHC cards. -Paul

Thanks for working out the IR mod. I love my J10. How about some IR pics from your J10?

I'll be sure to post some up in a different thread when I have time. Need to compare ISO settings too. The J10 flash fills-in very nicely.

Tried this IR modification on two J10s and wound up with out of focus photos on both. Rather than trying to use shims I decided to try removing the IR filter material from the glass. Put a bit of nail polish remover on the IR glass, the filter material scraped off easily with a sharp blade. Reinstalled the glass and the rubber boot. Here are photos without and with the reinstalled glass - converted them to black and white on the computer.

Now to put it in a build and get it out in the woods.
