Well after more than a year I'm finally getting this back on track. Life caught up to me and I didn't have time to build this cam. Well now that my finicky commercial cam just died I came back to this build. Just this past weekend I ordered an ssii board and the rest of the parts for my build. Can't wait to start this thing.

Predator I think I have the idea down to make 3d for the camo but I'm unsure.

1. Use silicone on a piece of bark to basically make a photo negative mold of the bark

2. Using liquid nails or other compound cover the face of the camera and press the mold onto it so the liquid nails takes the shape of the bark.
3. Remove mold
4. Paint

Does that sound right?

It's easier and quicker to just apply the Liquid Nails or Loctite right to the box and shape it to resemble bark. Some of the guys do it really well (me not so much), but it's more the paint job than the texture that really camouflages the camera. Here's one of mine --

they smear the liquid nails onto the silicone mold filling all the cracks, then when the liquid nails dries , just peel it off the silicone and shape and cut it to fit the case, and using more liquid nails to glue it down to the case and fill in any cracks and seams, then paint it.

Heres a post I made awhile back on how to make 3D camo

Heres how I make my 3D. Hope it helps someone

To make the mould

First find a tree with the pattern you want to use (one thats out of sight as it will stain the bark a little)
Spray the tree in the spot you will be useing with a Silacone spray about 12x16 area Next take rubber silacone calk and apply to the tree in the area you sprayed
Next work the rubber in real good and apply pressure as your working it in so it gets all the way down into the bark on the tree Need about 2 tubes)
Let this on the tree for at least a day so it gets hard
Once its hard remove the mould from the tree

To make the 3D camo

Use the mould you made above
Spray the mould with your silacone spray (easier to remove)
Next take you Liquid Nail and put it in the mould working it in good and applying pressure
once its in the mould level off the back as much as you can but keeping the mould covered with the liquid nail
Let this setup about a day then remove it from the mould

Getting the 3D ready for the case

lay your 3D on your case and mark your holes
Cut out the holes with a knife or sissors and check that it will fit over the HPWA or snorkel you are useing

Putting the 3D on the case

spread some Liquid nail on the case and smear it around
put the Liquid nail thick around the snorkel and HPWA lens so it fills the gap that you have around them
press the 3D down good
Cut the excess 3D off
Cut a notch in the corner of the 3D so you can shape the corners
Put some Liquid nail where the ends of the 3D will be on the case
I use a hot air gun to heat the 3D so you can bend it and warm it up good
press the 3D down to shape it and press your corners together ( be careful as they will be hot)
let dry over night then you can paint it as you wish

Note
I use "Beats The Nail" as my Liquid nail
