How about in the P41. Is probably related to how many pictures it takes? Is the ssii user friendly for a first timer? How do I retrieve my pictures? What is your take on white flash vs. Dark ? I know it is a lot of questions. Just trying to figure out the pros and cons of each board and the ease of retrieving pic's, because it may be a month before I get to check cameras. :thanks Chad

The board battery should last a year ,doesn't matter the camera type. The p41 camera with rechargeable low self discharge batteries in the camera and alkaline batteries in the external holders will give you a month easily on a normal trail situation. On a feeder setting it will depend on how many pics you get but I put mine out for a month at a time and it has no problem lasting that long, hundreds of pictures. The SSII is the most user friendly board out there in my opinion. You have two settings, one for feeder and one for trails.

There is also the 1060 kit that has D cell externals where you can expect 3000-3500 pictures between battery changes.

Most of us have extra cards and just swap them out when checking the cam, then take them home and load them on the computer.
With the external batteries your card will fill up before the batteries die

Welcome to Camtrapper....and yes the P41 is a good quick camera(you do have the full description there correct) and pretty easy first hack. You'll need to remember to get a couple of the memory sticks for it(it does not use SD cards). Look for memory stick duo or pro-duo with adapter...512mb or 1gb. I am more a fan of the Sony S40 or S600 fast hacks(they aren't as quick as the P41) though tougher hacks(you could have someone hack one for you) they have better flash range and pic quality IMO - the S600 especially. Embrace the addiction.....
