Just wanted to say hello to everyone haven't been around much over the summer.
It's about time to take to the tree tops so I should check in more often.
I did something completely different this summer and hoping it will increase the number of deer I see while in the stand.
Numbers are down in my area but with me not putting out a single trail camera all summer for whitetail as well as only setting foot on the property twice all summer I have my fingers crossed.
I'm also going to hunt differently then usual with the numbers being down some.
I usually kill a doe then wait it out for a decent buck.
This year I'm taking the first young (1.5) buck and not letting an arrow fly on a doe.
Didn't kill anything last year so I need the meat.
Hopefully my not killing any does for a couple years will make a difference down the road.

I generally take a different approach. I like to hold out for the nice buck until the end of season draws near. During the last weekend of our modern gun season, if I haven't taken him by then, the first big doe usually rides home with me ... (;

Good strategy keeping your scent out of your core hunting area. I do the opposite as well, hold out and hold out for a big buck until I just can't take it any more and let a usually, young do have it. Good luck this year Duane and fills us in on your success, or even your lack thereof.
