Hi folks. New here to the forum, but began lurking winter 2013. I'm originally from Champaign, Illinois, but am now living in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada (Islanders call us "Come From Aways"). I'm employed in a similar fashion to Jonny A. as a fish geek.

PEI once had many large mammal species - wolves, moose, black bear - that would be killer to capture via camera trap. European settlers put an end to that, however. Foxes are native on the island and eventually the demand for fox furs triggered several entrepreneurs to explore captive breeding operations in the late 1800s. By WWII demand plummeted and the breeders just opened the doors to their cages and let the foxes run free. Today, we have an abundance (over abundance according to some locals) of red foxes. We also have coyotes that came over on ice floes in the late 80s, American mink, and least weasel. I have access to a Masters student studying foxes on the island and she's agreed to work with me this spring when the adult females give birth to their pups. Figured this would be an easy way to shorten the learning curve with (hopefully) cooperative subjects.

I admire the creativity and ingenuity of the members on this board. Not to mention the passion many of you obviously have for this endeavor. Look forward to learning from all of you. I'll probably make another post tomorrow with a few questions.

Welcome Sean. I was hoping you would sign up and post here. Some images of wildlife from PEI would be great to see.
