Hey, yall. After fighting with the crud they sell in the stores for the past years, I started researching homebrews. Haven't done it yet, but I'm seriously considering doing one. I emailed bigbassman after stumbling across his site while I was trying to figure out if I have the skillset necessary to attempt this endeavor. He pointed me this way, so here I am.
I live in Central MO, at the very northernmost edge of the Ozarks. I'm a self employed, (read; broke), contractor with my own little chunk of woods that I hunt and manage for wildlife. Specifically deer, but I'm an equal opportunity kind of guy and make sure no critters are left out of my land improvement plans.
I'm thinking about having a homebrew made for me first, then picking brains to help me as needed as I try it on my own. After I recover from Christmas, I'm going on a shopping spree via Craigslist to get as many cameras as I can and start from there.
I hope to learn and not to be too big of a pain in the rear and apologize in advance if I ask to many no-brainer questions. Electronics are not my forte'. I don't know a servo from Shinola.

Welcome to the site and the wealth of knowledge here. Some one will always have an answer or answers to all the questions U may have. All questions are important if u feel the need to ask. This forum has helped me get my start as well. It is a great learning center ... Once u start many more builds will follow i am sure ....

Appreciate it, fellas. It's sometimes intimidating to join a forum where everyone knows everyone, but I figure to listen first and learn. I can talk all day about what I know, but in this particular project, I know squat, so I'll read and learn and ask when I'm lost and share the results when I'm successful.

Hello Moose,

You're among friends here. We all have a passion for photography, videography, wildlife, wildlife habitat improvement, etc. This is one of the greatest group of people I know. Even after nine years of doing this I still have a lot more questions than I have answers.

Don't hesitate to ask any question you might have. I'd suggest purchasing a few different cameras and see which ones you like the best. I really like the Sony W230 cameras but there are many on this forum who might recommend a replacement for that camera. I also like the fancy Nikon cameras with the slave flashes.

Welcome,

David
