Chris (212) is doing some testing on a GOPRO I sent him. He is working on the timings and such so he can do a program to run one with a BigFoot Board. Go over to Hag's and check it out. Kinda slow is what I am reading so far.....we will see.

The Go Pro 2 is perfect for a trail cam because of its size and quality of video. I'm working on one that is small with two triple AA packs for externals, and will be using Hag's BF board. Due to its size, it can be easily hid in the forest with good 3D camo. I will be running it in the daytime on known game trails to catch not only wildlife, but poachers as well. A IR version down the road would also be built for this program to protect Hua Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. Im working closely with the director of the Wildlife Conservation Division and they are very interested in using modern technology to look after this World Heritage Site.

Thanks guys...actually last week we found a good deal on the Kodak ZX5, and made the purchase. egbertdavis has volunteered to do the testing, and we will post updates when they become available.

...on a side note I've been slowly gathering parts for my own GoPro build as well, so we will have another tester to get info from soon.

I've got the camera, how do you all want me to test it? I think the ultimate test would be to see how it performs with IR, but that would be the last test.
Please let me know your thoughts and I will start putting this camera through the ringer.

Cool...I'd say just to start with maybe something similar to what we do with the stills...start-up time, battery life, video and audio quality...I'm sure there's a few more but all I can think of for now...anyone else?

Here are a bunch of sample videos taken in all different weather and lighting conditions. Some of them have comentary that has nothing to do with the camera. Battery wise, the camera will record for just around 2 hours continuously. The one thing I don't like about the battery is that it is self contained in the camera and is not readily removeable, so if you put it in a build, to charge it up, you cannot simply exchange the batteries, rather you have to take the camera out and charge it.

Other than the battery, the camera is fairly decent. I did not get any action shots with these last two outings turkey hunting, but I'll try to get some later on this week. The camera is simple to use and will do 1080p (30fps), 720p (60fps), 720p (30fps) and WVGA as well as still pics and will stay in whatever mode you last leave it in. I only played with it in 1080 and 720p(60fps). Let me know what other types of videos you would like.

The vids look pretty decent actually! too bad about the battery...Guess a guy would just have to buy 2 cams and swap the entire cam out :tinkin

Thanks for testing Ron
