Hey guys...while we are waiting to hear back from Ron on the Canon D10 what are your thoughts on starting another round of research. We have funds available and havnt done anything in a while...I'm getting itchy how about you?

FYI...We have $432.70 in the research fund at the moment.

Jeremi, why has nobody or at least nobody that I'm aware of. Ever built a game cam from a Canon point and shoot. Although I gather from your posting that maybe Ron is doing one as we speak. If so then up until now he's the only one that I've heard of. My suggestion would be either a Canon S90 or a S100.

Well I think way back when some did but they didn't pan out and havnt been looked at since to my knowledge. I think a few guys built canon digital elph S100s and I built a a300. I know the a300 was a battery hog. It's funny you mention the S90. I've researched that one too and it does look really good.

Nikon has some potential candidates too. I like the look of the AW100

How about the Nikon Coolpix S30 or S31. I have turned those into inexpensive timelapse cameras in the past. They run on two AA and are very easy to hack.

Gary,

I built a Canon 'point-n-shoot' that worked very well and it was a reasonable in cost-low-end model...I'll have to go back and find out which one it was and I don't use it anymore....here is a tapir shot taken with it....!

I'm sure it is now discontinued but others are out there...! Just a matter of taking one apart and doing the hack but they do take nice pics....!

Thanks Bruce. That pic looks great. I remember that one...you let me use it for a slideshow/trade show promo. I didn't realize that it was from a canon p&s

Pred,

Yep, just a low-end Canon but got it hacked, and it worked very well with good color...hardly did any Photoshop tweaking to this image...needless to say, more of the Canon point-n-shoots need to be hacked and promoted....! Thanks for the comeback..
