Hi Guys,

Long time member but haven't been here in a while. Looking for suggestions on what camera would make a great homebrew build. I really like the Sony S600 because there's no snorkel required. Is there a compatible camera out that's newer that doesn't require a snorkel? If not, I may do another S600 build.

Thanks,
Matt

I like the FP8s too as they are very fast and use sd cards. They are excellent for close-ups(like buck66s pics) because the flash is pretty weak. For anything over 10 to 15 ft a slave is needed. For the best quality pics I like to use a remote slave and turn the iso on the cam down to 100 or even 80.

Requires a snorkel but don’t shy away from these cameras as it’s pretty easy to do up.Panasonic FS7 with or without a slave. I have piles without a slave and some with. H70 is a awesome camera. One of my favs.but I use it with a built in slave or a remote slave.

The Olympus VG-190 has a great flash and a pretty easy hack but does require a snorkel. I make my snorkels from a PVC pipe fitting (cheap and not hard to do).
