So now that everything is wrapped up with the 2nd research cam (the Sony WX1) it's now time to start the next round! Round 3

We've done some great work so far with the first two cams...and although both those cams had thier strong points, I think it's pretty safe to say the quest for the "Ultimate" home brew continues. :Fudd

We will open up a couple threads for both Still cameras and video, where members can post camera suggestions that we can discuss.

Just like the first two rounds:

* A Camera Specification (manufacturers) spreadsheet will be created so we can compare suggested cameras sided by side
* We will vote on what cameras to purchase for testing, based on the comparison specs
* Cameras will be hand tested first before attempting hacks so that if they don't pan out they can be auctioned off on e-bay.
* Cameras that hand test well for trail cam use will be hacked (or attempted), tested and sold through the Blue Light specials section on our site once testing is complete
* All money recovered from re-selling the cameras (good and bad) will be put back into the fund for continued research

Over the next week or so I'll work on updating the specs spreadsheet, but for now, lets start the process by getting some camera suggestions going.

:cheers

I echo a camera like the Sony WX10 that includes burst mode, true HD video, and a lens that doesn't try to focus every few seconds like the Sony W290.

Some great suggestions so far!

Just to keep things all in one spot though, I moved (copied) the suggestions from this post to the actual Still camera suggestions thread...this post was just the announcement to get things going. Sorry for any confusion....here's the camera suggestions thread.

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4485&p=32870#p32870

and there's one open for video cams too.

Cheers :cheers

I already show the hack for the wx10. I do not recomend this hack to most people. It is very easy to mess up this hack and ruin the abilitly to turn on the camera manually. To bad most people can`t get away from the Sony cameras.
