Some of the scene settings the flash will work on every picture, but the sports setting it will only flash when needed at night or low light. I also use the pop up and noticed it works best in sports setting. For ducks during the day I use the auto focus, mainly because I'm not sure where the ducks will be for distance and don't care about night pics.

good luck,

cliff

Oh cool...thanks...sports setting it is then! Am I right with the focus setting, in having to set it to "Servo"? I assume thats so the cable can focus the camera. In Manual focus it probably doesn't make a difference hey?

Not sure how you set up your camera, I used an older 425 radio shack board with a 2 wire hookup just like we did on the owl pf film cameras. I just hook up shutter and ground and nothing for focus. I think when the shutter grounds the auto focus works automatically, seems to with my canon and Nikon. I'm using a canon XS.

Yep, thats how I'm using mine. When exploring the menu setting on the cam, I noticed there was a "Focus" setting...with three options:

1) One Shot
2) AI
3) AI servo

I had it on AI initially but after I had some trouble I switched it to AI servo and it seems to run better that way.

But I'm going to try what you said and use the Sports setting and manual focus. Thanks Cliff
