Set the Nikon up on a well used deer and elk trail...elk like to bother the cameras, especially noisy Nikons, so I made it easy for them and might get a closeup.

Risky where I work....the first herd would be playing with it like a football....A bigger tree, secure aluminum box and several 3" lag bolts are the only answer...! Look forward to the pics of elk....!

TH not to risky in this location, elk only bite and lick the lens, glad no elephants..

canuck, I have a 35 x55 lens that came with it and it doesn't work well at all, the D100 is known to take dark pictures so the settings are very difficult to get right when using as a game camera, seems if I set it up for day shots the animals pass by at night and if nights then the day shots are bright. Also if the pop up flash is on it will fire on every picture, good during the day but think at times the flash going off in morning or evening will change the iso and make the photo dark again.

JDH, I'm wanting to get a few bull pictures as they do come into this alder patch to rub the velvet off, I want a few pictures of the velvet hanging showing the white bone. I have one that is nice from years ago and they look good.

Not the photo I wanted, but it has been in the 90's for weather and not much going on except mosquitoes eating me alive.

I knew you'd get your quarry. The big boys will come next.

Think I'm looking for a different lens, the cameras are so fast and the bull came from a closer trail that I missed the best part...

Cliff,

Nice record shot....you'll get him eventually...maybe a little wider lens might be good for this location; probably a 18-20mm..but not sure about your snorkel...the lens might not fit in the build...

I will be doing an ultra-wide DSLR one of these days...all mine have 35 or 50mm lenses (all fixed and manual Nikons)..!
