Thanks everyone ! There were hunters in the same area we hunt that had shot a sow that had cubs in 2012 and hit it in the front leg tracked it a long ways but never recovered it . If this is her then she would be 11 or 12 years old at least

The oldest one we have taken through the years was a 16 year old sow I dont know what the average would be but hunting would bring the average down a bit as a lot of 2and 3 year olds are taken each year

The oldest bear ever accurately aged in Pennsylvania was a 35 years old female, she was far beyond the average lifespan which is in the early teens. I photographed one in 2005 that was at least three years old, he was shot during bear season in 2016 at a weight of 640 pounds+.
