That was a very good find Woody and interesting coverage. :thanks

I found two dead Bears once but both were found in snares intended for Wolves. None of which I found very satisfying, no mystery to that find.

Thanks for the update, and sorry I can't offer any answers, but one thought. Could it be that there were too many dead deer in the woods as an alternate food?

Did you salvage the skull? A few years ago I noticed a heap of brown hair on a dirt road and stopped to check it out. No skin, just hair, and a bear's baculum (=penis bone)--also known as a Texas toothpick. I took the baculum, and assumed that something had been dragging the remains, and this was left behind.
