All photos were shot with two Nikon SB-28 flash boxes set to 1/8 and 1/32 power, Sony A6000 set to ISO1200, F7.1, 1/160. Recorded in RAW format, converted with the Sony RAW converter.

Nice.

How are you liking the A6000 for trapping?

Here are my thoughts on the A6000. Some good, some not so.

Picture quality is outstanding. The camera does really well even when shooting at low light levels. I never set the flashes above 1/8 power, shoot at 1200 + ISO and still the colors look good. In continues shooting the camera is way faster than the flash so I have had to switch to single frame shooting. Doing this I can still shoot at 2.5 frames per second and not have any dark photos. And the camera is small enough that with the 18-55 Sony zoom you can put it in a 1150 pelican case. And you do not have to hack the camera. It has a plug for a wired remote that works well once you find the correct cord. It looks like a micro USB plug, but is not. I buy either a $5 remote and cut the wire off, or you can buy a plug with a mini jack on the end, several companies manufacture them.

The not so good points. Battery hungry. It will only take about 300 photos on the internal 1100mAh Sony battery. So I Switch over to 7.4v drone batteries that are from 2000 -5000 mAh. And even the largest are much less costly than the Sony. I like the 2400mAh battery best. When shooting manual focus, when the battery is removed and replaced you must always refocus. The camera/lens do not remember where the focus was set when power comes back on. This can be overcome by using old non auto focus lens from 35mm film cameras with a cheep adapter. I have done this. Some of this old glass can be outstanding and can be found for nearly nothing on ebay.

So, I'm moving away from any more Sony NEX-5N cameras and moving to the A6000.

Nice pics and super clarity with the A6000. Nice work introducing the SB's.
