To capture a healthy boar of this size along with a sow doing what they do naturally in the wild is thrilling. I hope it's a wake up call NOT to feed bears this time of year. If you live in bear country, please put your bird and hummingbird feeders away. Take care of your trash responsibly. Remember, a bear that is habituated to a human caused food source is a dead bear. Keep bears wild and alive by using common sense. Bears are super susceptible to becoming habituated. Although I've been an avid hunter all my life, I'm completely against the practice of baiting bears. I'd like to see that practice outlawed. Shooting a bear with powdered sugar on its nose doesn't seem very sporting and it creates problem bears. There are plenty of opportunities to spot and stalk bears. That's my three cents. I'm sure I'll stir up a hornets nest with that comment.

Gosh, the quality of that video given the lighting conditions is fantastic. Is that one of your Browning cams David and which model?

As for your opinion on Bears and their habituation due to humans, I totally agree. We also have the same ongoing problem where I live. I'm not trying to hijack your post but rather add to your post with a few articles from our local media.

Once an animal of that size and speed loses its natural, let's say fear of humans. Nothing, but absolutely nothing good can come of it for the Bear or humans.

Great video, David. And thanks for the articles, Gary. "A fed bear is a dead bear".

Gary, thanks for the articles. I'll review them this evening. The camera used is a Browning Recon Force Platinum. I much prefer the newer Browning Recon Force Extreme. It records at 60fps and the white balance is better. Plus the IR night video is hands down better. A few recent videos from that extreme camera.

Gary, I read the disturbing articles. I believe the only way to deal with irresponsible human beings is to hit them really hard in the pocket book, beginning with at least a $1,000 fine for every infraction of not taking care of your garbage, bird feeders, gas grills and other bear attractants properly. Word will begin to spread among the local citizens only when the pain threshold increases. Anything short of adequate financial pain ends up being a joke and bears are killed as a result. Very unfortunate.

I gotta get me one of them Browning Recon Force Extreme cams. That's exceptional for a commercial cam.
Thanks David,

Yes, like Lays Potatoe Chips, you can't buy just one. You'll feel off and toss and turn at night, knowing something is completely out of balance. You need one in each hand to keep your spine straight.
