Good set of pics though. Out here we rarely see porcupines, so that's one I hope to get one of these days.

Looking at the log, the way the ends sat on the streambanks, signs of wear on the streambank and the log's upper surface, it looked like this was the bridge of choice for a lot of critters. But there are six other logs across the stream within 100 yards and it may just be that there are too many alternatives for crossing the stream.

As has been stated, log crossings are always the best. I really liked the herons.
