Threw some freezer burnt ground beef and a trapbait caller out on the property hoping for some foxes a few weeks back. Didn't do well with the foxes but was (happily) surprised to find pictures on the card of one our resident Red-Shouldered Hawks grabbing a quick bite. I guess it's just as good as carrion?

Very nice photos of a species we don't see very often.

Very nice; I made an artificial platform nest for these guys several years ago, but I guess they have better natural choices in the neighborhood.

Great shots and good for you not letting that food go to waste. I'll bet it's the caller that brings in the raptors initially.

Interesting. Did they take to the platform nest at all?

I left a Bushnell trail cam in the tree in video mode, aimed at the nest, but the wind caused repeated false triggers till the card was filled. Not a single hawk was recorded. An AIR sensor across the nest cup might work better. My neighbor hits golf balls down the hill into this ravine, and I'm thinking about using them as egg decoys in the nest for the local ravens now. However it's not high on my list of priorities.
