I went for a hike with the dog on Wednesday and stumbled onto a deer that had been killed by a mountain lion. Only 5% was eaten. Christmas in February. I set up two
cameras and captured some decent footage. We had overcast skies so the lighting was as good as it could get. Pinching myself.

Great video. Just proves that predators prefer to scavenge when the opportunity arises -- no chance of injury from attacking live prey that may fight back and much lower expenditure of energy.

This Muley was killed by the mountain lion in the video. There were bite marks into the spinal column on top the neck. Sorry if I led you to believe this lion was scavenging. I found carcass just a few hours after the doe was killed by the lion.
