Kiewa Valley, N.E. Vic, Nathan

Actually I was going to message you, your name "Quoll" sparks my interest. I have been most interested in Quoll distribution around here. I can find little info I was hoping you may know more?

I was up the Kiewa valley the other day. We decided to spend a couple of nights at Mountain Creek, and I managed to get this pygmy possum in the campground:

I'm recently down from living in Darwin/Broome so I am catching up on quoll stuff here. Try this link

http://spatial.ala.org.au/?q=lsid:urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:33d1cf65-5c15-4864-8ce1-88bc483f713e

Seems the Snowy River region is the best according to my consultant friends, though there was a 2007 record in the mid Kiewa valley. You never know. Maybe set a camera trap up mountain creek road in the bush with a chicken neck cable tied to a branch and see who visits. All quoll info is super valuable and I would log in to the ALA and add any animal info to the database - regardless of the species.

Or go to Tasmania for a holiday. Plenty of quolls there

Nice image of the possum, I had a quick look at the information you suggested. I am most interested about that sighting of the Quoll in my valley. Lots of foxes around here so I am thinking that maybe there struggling? I shall try your suggestion of a bait probably out of reach of a fox? I found it interesting that you suggested a chicken neck, the chicken necks we have here are normally still joined to the head when i drop the axe on them, lol. Maybe a rabbit leg will be the go, wired to a branch. Happy trapping and if you are going past again (& you have to, to get to Mountain Creek) you should drop in.
