Why are you thinking two strikes against the bear, because of the ear tags? I think PA is like NJ with their tagging and those are just id tags. They put two in the ears in case one falls out.

Joining the discussion late, but along the way I've read that sows with young are normally highly aggressive to adult males around their young, esp when small. Mom usually signals the young to get up a tree when there's danger, and if its a big male she'll kick his butt around till he gets the message.

Beautiful shots with beautiful color. The H70 seems to be serving u well.
