The Front Range of the Rocky Mountains from Mexico up into Montana has this red rock in the form of hogbacks. They typically run in a north/south direction. Once Thanksgiving arrives, the lion activity on these ridgelines starts to peak and continues through March 1st where they run through winter range for deer and elk, basically mountain lion groceries. I have them in view of my house. To live so close to apex predators is such a gift.
