The stones sure gather animals interest for various reasons. So the stones were put there by settlers you think to build a stone wall but hey never got around to it ?

Fantastic assortment of pics Woody. The Fisher pic showing him marking the stones is normal behaviour for most predators I believe. To capture that is really neat.

I love your explanation about the boulders, it makes sense.

In our area stone walls were built before the advent of barbed wire, as soon as inexpensive barbed wire became available the era of wall building came to a quick end. It's so much easier to string wire and dump rocks in a pile than to build a wall that few, if any, farmers continued to build walls after the early 1870s.

What a great find and idea. I would have never thought of a stone row being that type of wildlife magnet.

That was a Nikon L11. Although the Sony S40 and 600 fast-hacks are faster, I really like the L11s -- they're small, inexpensive, the hack is easy, they use two AA batteries, and they use SD cards. The only disadvantages are the sound the extending lens makes and the flash which I don't think is quite as good as the S40's.
