I'm constantly looking for animal signs and new locations. Trying to choose unique, interesting and scenic backgrounds for my sets. I know that the animals are here but finding the right combination is pure trial and error. As with most of us, I have to try new locations and then make adjustments or simply remove the cam altogether and I enjoy that part of the game. Missed opportunities is all part of that game but there is always next time I keep telling myself.

What I learned this week is that there is a Cougar mom with 2 cubs in the area. That is a first and great news, not so much for the Deer. I also learned that one of my S600 camera traps has tremendous detection range :) I also realized that some sets work best if the subject is coming from only one direction. I've made some adjustments, removed and reinstalled cams and I'm now satisfied......for now or until next cam check.

In the end, none of the pics were money shots but I did learn lots of new information. I did get pics of 4 Cougars, sow with 2 cubs, another lone Bear, lone Wolf, Deer, Elk cow and a Marten. I also got some good and unique Wolf video with a nice backdrop, to be posted later. Here are the pics, actually all of the pics worth showing that didn't make the grade. The Wolf facial pic and the 3 Cougars in the background are my favs of the bunch.

My favourite is the daytime 3 lions in the sand. Too bad that Martin was going away and not coming, there's just something about them.

Some really nice subjects, can't wait to see the video.

Although I understand why you move cameras to new sets, I tend to find a few favorite locations and keep a camera there for a long time. I have one set in the Big Woods where I've had a camera constantly for six years. Different strokes for different folks -- I'll probably try your way as well.

From what I've seen from you over the years, you have done quite well with both the subjects and the background. It's great that you are always seeking to improve.

Blessings.........Pastorjim

I am like others. I have sets in same spots year after year. I also move cameras around a lot. I remove certain cameras and replace with ones that I believe suits the needs better .. it’s all to try to get that perfect shot that is in my mind the one ..
