I really like these little boards but the need to disconnect the battery to turn the board ON & OFF is a bit of a pain in the butt as well as it having the potential to break a wire or wear the snap out so I do a little mod on the board to allow the supplied ON OFF sensor switch to become the ON OFF for power.
It's only a 5 minute job and just involves de-soldering the 2 sensor toggle wires from the board, doing a solder jumper over the solder points for those wires and then using the toggle switch as a power ON OFF by soldering it into the positive wire on the battery snap between the board and the 9V battery. This way flipping the toggle turns the board on & off and the sensor is permanently on. As the board starts in Walk-Test anyway this is no big deal with the only minor downside being you may get a few pics of yourself taking the unit off the tree before you can open the case up and turn the board off.
I also put the ON OFF toggle inside the case on a little alloy bracket to avoid the possibility of some clown who has discovered my TC turning it off via an external switch. Here's a few pics of the Simple Sniper ON OFF mod that I do. Well worth giving a go and IMO it makes a great little controller even better. Cheers from Down Under
