Post subject:  Faulty Snapshot Sniper II?

I am using a Snapshot Sniper II as a motion detector with a Canon t3i.

When I turn everything on and wait through the testing period on the SSII, everything works perfectly. The motion detector triggers the camera for as long as there is motion.

However, after about 30 minutes, the SSII stops working. This happens every time. I have tried turning the camera on and off without touching the SSII but nothing happened. However, if I flip the SSII off and then back on, everything starts over and works fine again.

This is frustrating because I can't rely on this thing at all out in the field.

I have no idea what's going on. All the connections are solidly in place and the battery in the SSII is even taped down to prevent it from popping out. Could it just be faulty or am I missing something?

Thought? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Have you checked the SS2 pins with a continuity tester? You might try turning it on with no camera and then checking the pins for continuity during a motion event after the SS2 has rested for 30 minutes.

Also, could be a low battery.

I would definitely check the battery. Put a new one in as to try and rule out the battery.

Do you have the 3rd wire connected or just 2? If just 2, try connection the 3rd wire (pre focus) to "P" on the SSII and see what it does.
