Curious if anyone can elaborate on the advantages of swapping out the stock cap in a camera with one of these? They're available via RCDavis.

On some cameras it speeds them up like the Panasonic lz10 camera and on some cameras they need to be refreshed often so doing a cap mod you can eliminate the refresh on them as the 2.2 cap charges almost instantly saving you battery power

Be aware that changing to the 2.2uf capacitor will make it so you need an internal slave flash as the camera flash will no longer be strong enough on its own. Also I have seen some cameras that wouldn't even fire a slave flash after doing the cap mod or it changed the flash sequence so this isn't something that you should do to all cameras. The cap mod was specifically developed for the Samsung A503 to reduce the power consumption that was associated with the original capacitor. It can have the benefit of speeding up some cameras as Ken stated but it doesn't work for all cameras.

On a A503 it virtually eliminates the need for externals(I use lithiums in these) I also have done it to a Sony w200 and it worked well also.

I had put a smaller flash cap somewhere around this size in a couple P32s. Ran the cameras for daytime only pictures. With the flash forced on at all times. Made the camera super fast and the pictures we absolutely stunning. No idea what timing I used anymore though.
