I have painted one of mine today John and my experiments have shown that it has no effect. It certainly makes the camera more difficult to spot. I will be slowly doing the same to all. To my eye light brown looks the best.

As a note to Gary’s stolen camera and Trevor’s post here, plus a few of the comments on this thread I wanted to let everyone know that I too had a cam stolen. But three weeks later a good person and a fellow hunter brought my cam back to me at my office. Many know what my homebrews look like and I had shown this fellow hunter a few builds and pics from them. He remembered and found the cam on the side of the road. Seems as tho they only wanted the card and not the cam. (They obviously don’t know quality when they see it .. lol) This cam was not locked. No trees where I was so I had it on a cam stand. Me and the guy that returned the camera have become friends as we share a common interest in cams and pics.
