How to view images?

I was interested in viewing images of some builds, but where the images were supposed to be in-line, only the word "image" appeared. I am a member and was logged in. Were these deleted by the person posting that topic? Is there a way to see those images? What am I missing?

Hi Dan......There are two ways to display pictures on the forum. One - by uploading the image to the forum where it is stored on the forum server and will only disappear if the original poster deletes it. Two - by using a image hosting service like Smugmug, Flix, Photobucket, etc. Using this method the images are stored on their server and then a link to the image is placed in the forum and the image is displayed whenever you click on that forum topic.

So, if you are looking at an older forum topic and the image is gone, that indicates the original poster used method two and the original image was deleted off the image hosting service server.

From a forum owners point of view, method two is preferred since it does not tie up any server resources. The forum hosting company charges by the number of files stored or the number of gigabytes used..
