New Idea for camera research

I had this idea the other day and figured I'd discuss it with the other mods as well as get some member input...here's the idea:
After a round of camera research is finished and the winning camera's fate is decided upon by all of us...hack, no hack etc...instead of starting up a whole new round of research, I was thinking we could, by default test the camera that had the second most votes next...when it's done we'd test the third place camera. Once the top 3 cameras of a research round are tested, hacked built etc we'd start a new round of suggestions and voting and start the process over again.
I think this might keep things more active and interesting, we'd get to test more cams...with the same effort.
What do you think?

Sounds good. Although I am intrigued by the Kodak M5350.

Perhaps move on to #2 and meanwhile get a few more suggestions and perhaps do a 1/2 yr vote...I have been seeing a lot of good markdowns on kodak cams lately and don't see much info on anyone hacking any of them...another cam I've seen with a supposed effective flash range out to 4.9 meters is the GE A1255...has anyone ever looked into the GE lineup before? I got something happening with the comp...will have to continue later.

Looks like we all agree! So I'm thinking we should go with the sony T110. The panny FX75 is almost the same as the FX700 which we have info on already...plus I may be purchasing a 75 in the near future from my own pocket.
Objections?

Well I saw the update to the camera research fund and figured I would throw this out there....I would already have a Lx3 in my hands if I wasn't currently unemployed(almost had one a couple months ago for 85$) but it is what it is....However the Lx5 is starting to drop in price(about 170$ ave used - 250 to 300$ new) and the Lx7 is even better but prob'ly to expensive. Anyway I propose we look at the Lx5 for the next research camera...it looks like the hack will be fairly easy/simple(similiar to the other pannys we've done) and the features of these cameras are right in the middle between point and shoot and dslr...the pics are phenominal from what I have seen in the reviews and though a little larger than point and shoots and needing a larger snorkel they should still fit into a Pelican 1060 or Otter 3250 along with a slave - though I don't think they will necessarily require a slave. They have a pop up flash but can still be set to auto flash so it they will not be using it all day when unnecessary. The Lx series also support shooting in RAW format. Here is a link to Digital Photography Reviews group test of the Lx5:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/q42010h ... pactgroup/ once there you can find more comparison/tests shots of the cameras in the dropdown menu - this is the Lx5 performance:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/q42010h ... actgroup/8 ...notice the flash range is rated out to 7 meters(lx3 says 8m) also notice it says a 1.4 sec startup so decent speed.

Samsung has a new Android based phone out there now that can email the photos as they are taken. I am currently playing with the Nikon S800C which also does that so no need for putting it in the mix. Whatever "we" choose to do I hope "we" follow thru with it this time around...

What wasn't followed through with, and by whom Jim?

I like that suggestion Wolven! There's a couple other's in that "range" i've been curious about as well. We will open up a new suggestion thread shortly so get your thinking caps on!
