W7 IR, No Glass (Picture Heavy)

Post by Willy »

Well, Joe and I have been kind of working together on these W7s...mostly Joe. I mentioned the idea of soldering an S600 flash unit to a W7 and you saw the result.

Joe had one apart that I had hacked and he decided to pull the glass out of it to experiment with IR capability (No S600 Flash Mod.) He sent it to me and I put it in my case and stuck a flash filter in front of the flash with enhancer. After some issues with the SS board (All my fault), I finally got it up and running. These are completely untouched. The feeder is approximately 13 feet away from the camera. I like that they take AAs and duos or pros, and also that you can turn the time/date stamp on. I guess I'll have to drill out a case for my W7 IR and put my Whiteflash W7 back in its home.

Here's a few in gray scale with the midtone brightness bumped up.

Looks good Sean...How about strapping on a IR p32 in the same place for comparison?

Do those W7's have a setting to take the photos in B&W?

Yes there is Tony, there is Sepia also.

I'm gonna mess with the settings this coming weekend. Right now, everything is on auto. I'm gonna set it on program mode then bump the EV up to +2, increase the brightness, set it on Multi-AF, ISO 400, Flash +, sharpness +, and change it to B & W. I think that will improve the Flash distance, even though its pretty good at 13-15 feet already.
