First... teach a child to love GOD.

Teach them second... to love their family.

Third, teach them to hunt & fish... and by the time they reach

their teens, no dope peddler under the sun...will ever have a

chance to teach them anything. ---Cotton Cordell

Woundknee said it was a Swainson hawk, and it does look like one.

TX, That looks like a Peregrin Falcon to me, but I have not seen one up close. We have falcons around here. Do a Google search on PF images. I have always been curious what part of the state you are in. I am pretty sure it is south Texas. I used to live near Choke CanyonLake at Three Rivers.

Bob I googled P Falcon, I think it looks like the Swainson hawk due to the brown patch of feathers on its chest. MO.
I'm in Corpus christi not far from Three Rivers...

Yep you got it...Swaison's hawk...the have a dark bib that goes on thier neck/chest...almost like an executioner's hood. They vary sometimes in color phase and sometimes you can't see the "hood" but in these pics it's very prominent.
