One Dead Deer - Many Diners

The carcass of a dead deer was an opportunity just too good to pass up -- https://forestandfield.blogspot.com/202 ... iners.html

Very interesting -- the woodpeckers surprised me. In warm weather I'd say they were after maggots, but I guess they were gleaning meat from those bones. Thanks for another good one!

I've went as far as stopping on the road to pick up dead deer just so I could take it to my hunting property to get pics. A dead carcass is like ringing the dinner bell to a group of hungry construction workers.

Protein during winter isn't easy to get, I think we underestimate the value because we can just go to the store but boy do I feel it when I miss one of three meals a day! Great post.

I recognized that canidae behaviour as they sniffed and walked around the carcass. It just looked like they were going to scent mark the spot. Great documentation of a video Woody.
To greater appreciate an animal you have to walk in their footsteps

And it doesn't matter where or what country for that matter.
