This popped up as I was viewing the recent catch from one of my long term sets. The gray lumps and pendulous growth hanging from the chest are cutaneous fibromas. Also called deer warts. It is caused by a virus and is probably transmitted by biting insects. It's not pretty in its milder forms and is horrifying when it covers the body. Check out some of the photos on the internet if you have a ghoulish curiosity.

Most of the time they will fall off and the deer will be fine. We get them on the deer around here sometimes, I even shot one a few years ago that had them. Those look like they are about to fall off the way they are hanging.
