Two images taken with a Canon T3i using Magic Lantern in Motion Detect mode.
Twig set up off the porch. M exposure with Canon 28-105mm lens.
I've been trying to get an image using a Camtraptions V3 set up of birds and have had little luck. Using a AIR from Triggersmart has also resulted in poor results. Tried Magic Lantern again with a different setup from what I had used to monitor a Western Blue Bird nest.
Much better.
M mode, iso 1600, medium sensor window.Natural light. Background is a Star Jasmine and exposure made for the branch.
Will work on this configuration.
American Goldfinch and Oak Titmouse

Very cool!
Religion is mans attempt to get to a god. Christianity is God's attempt to get to mankind

Re: Camtrap lst light with Magic Lantern
Neat! My understanding is magic lantern uses a lot of battery power.

Re: Camtrap lst light with Magic Lantern
Yes, you are correct.
ML does use a great deal of power, especially when in the motion detect mode, when used for straight motion detect photography. off the camera's battery
Experimenting with ML on the Western Bluebird project I connected the camera to an Orion 12v to 7.4v adapter I had for my astrophotography setup. I then ran the camera through the 12v - 7.4 v converter connected to a 12v sealed cell battery and the unit lasted over night. It worked well with the Canon, which is modded and with a Nikon D5300 without issues.
The adapter is an Orion 12v to 7.4v adapter, which is not longer sold. But, they may be found on various astrophotograhy sites.
Hope this helps.
