A drummer he is but not on a log

I was visiting this friend thats runs a trapline bordering my property one day a couple years ago and I heard this grouse drumming close by so I went and checked it out,
Well I found this grouse wasn't using a log to drum off of but was using the wall of the unfinished root cellar that the trapper had started to make years ago, The trapper said that this was year #4 for that grouse on the root cellar wall.
Well I went back this spring for a visit and that grouse is back out there strumming up a storm, That's year #6 and the same grouse in the same spot on the root cellar wall.

I couldn't help it I put up my DXG and my W-55, Pictures to follow

That'll make for excellent pictures. I've read that they use rocks and other structures to drum on, not just logs. A friend of mine had one drumming on an empty 50 gal. barrel for several years, that made for a unique sound.

These aren't as good as I was expecting but I did learn it's all about setup setup setup, But you'll get the drift of things.
Like I said earlier this bird has been at this same location for six years now

For the life of me I couldn't figure out what had happened to my DXG. There wasn't any motion even though I could hear sound but I watched long enough to find out why.

I don't think your "angle" was bad. Looked and sounded great. What in Sam's Hill kind of rabbit is that? Looks like a domestic!

Great videos. Not bad for a first try. I wasted a couple weeks on figuring out a setup without as good of results. The last video with a grouse, rabbit, and train was cool.

They look good Terry. The bunny sneaking into the corner of the frame was a good catch. Wonder if the bunny knew the grouse was there?

I only had two trees to mount the cameras so on in Hind site I should have had the DXG on the closer tree with the 45 degree angle.
I had watched this grouse before I put the cameras up for over an hour so I knew exactly where he would stand.

Good eye on the Rabbit
I believe the rabbit to be domestic or a wild rabbit with some domestic rabbit heritage.
The trapper that resides here raised rabbits for over 20 yrs for food when he couldn't get out for groceries,

Ha Ha guess what I had for supper last night when I pulled the cameras, YUCK YUCK YUCK, I'm sure glad the dingy little cabin was dimly lite because I'm positive the rabbit was under cooked and the plates and utensils I used were dirty, I thought I was going to hurl but I held her down with a swig of black coffee and a lot of stretching, I really don't now what the stretching did for me but it seemed to help, Maybe it helped take my mind of the bad thoughts, LOL

Tony the Train you refer to is over three miles away, The trappers cabin is in a drainage and the train is crossing over a bridge in that drainage when it blows it's horn, I does sound like its almost in your back pocket though

A little history if anyones interested
This trapper is 67 yr's old and has never ever had any sort of ATV to assist in trapping his line, All done on foot and with snow shoes, He's a skinny little buggar weighing in I'd guess some where between 120 & 130 LB's, And still tuff as nails
Straight from Germany 35yr's ago and very hard to understand, He's paranoid as all hell and he parks his car 20 yrds from my property line and walks the 2.5 miles to his cabin because he's scared of people following his vehicle tracks to the cabin,
He Loves his red wine and Jagermeister liquor
