Flying squirrel

Post by tbass »

This is an S600 simple sniper setup. I'm trying to get better pictures of this darn flying squirrel. I place the long limb down from beside the camera hoping to get close ups of squirrels and birds, but it didn't work as well as planned. I only had about 7 birds and no squirrels out of 1200+ photos.

Haven't tried this...just stabbing in the dark here...

My father-in-law has trouble with them in his bird feeders.

I'd get a shallow dish/tray to lay food in. Put that on an arm out away from the tree a bit. And then your cam to the tree. I'm sure you'll get a bunch of regular squirrels and birds. But if that flying squirrel lives near by...he'll be on it too.

That's a pretty good idea Matt. Thanks for the suggestion.

Set a feeder in the nearest tree to where you have been setting the ground feed.About one hour after dark put feed in the tree feeder. After a few nights they will get used to being fed at that tree feeder, then you can set your camera up about 18''-2' from the tree feeder.Good luck.

That's not a bad idea either except the set is about 1/2 or 3/4 mile from the house and I can't get to it except on foot right now because of snow.
